recently, beijing shougang co., ltd. put blast furnaces no. 1 and no. 2 into operation, marking the comprehensive completion of the blast furnace blowing dehumidification projects.

as one of three internationally recognized energy-saving smelting technologies (coal injection, oxygen enrichment, and blowing dehumidification) in ironmaking, blast furnace blowing dehumidification technology plays a crucial role in reducing the comprehensive coke ratio of blast furnaces, stabilizing furnace conditions, and lowering carbon emissions. it offers significant economic, environmental, and social benefits, serving as an effective measure for modern blast furnace ironmaking to increase production, conserve energy, and enhance corporate profits.

beijing shougang’s blast furnace blowing dehumidification projects were initiated on april 11th, 2023. the blast furnace no. 3 project commenced on june 30th, 2023 and took 79 days to complete. in its first year of operation, it saved 4,941 tons of coke and generated a profit of rmb 11.0183 million, achieving the expected results. in december 2023, the energy department of beijing shougang took proactive action, boldly shouldered its responsibility, overcame difficulties, adhered to the principle that “time is benefit”, collaborated efficiently with the investment management department and ironmaking operation department, and launched the blowing dehumidification projects of blast furnaces no. 1 and no. 2. despite tight schedules and cramped construction sites, the project team members innovated the organizational model, drove the high-quality and efficient construction of the projects, and put all three blast furnaces into operation within just 166 days. it is estimated that the reduction in coke consumption during ironmaking in 2024 will generate a profit of rmb 35.24 million.
